More and more CLIL, now on Pinterest!

Good evening Teachers!

First of all, I want you to know that I’ve recently opened an account on Pinterest to get much more information about CLIL, which you know that is the main issue of this blog. , I’ve shared some interesting web tools on it for interactive teaching (I will speak about them below).
To make CLIL the protagonist of our Education, it is important for us to have loads of different resources, including ICT’s. I would dare to say that these are the most important ones, since we are in the cutting edge of new technologies, and they are part of our daily live, so it would be a great idea to teach our students to make use of technologies from an educational point of view. To teach them, I always try to look for learning online tools. Fortunately, there are online tools for everything we need, so it is not very difficult to find something funny and instructional for our students. Here you have the resources  I make part of my lessons and I’ve shared on Pinterest.

 1. To learn about dinosaurs:

 http://www.kidsdinos.com

Kids usually love dinosaurs, so I usually work with them as a project, in which they will have to search for information, to organize it, make pictures, cardboards and a presentation for their classmates. On this web page they will find all the information they need, any type of dinosaur you can imagine and activities and games related to it.

2. To learn English:

http://www.anglomaniacy.pl

This web page is principally for little (and not so little) children who are starting to learn English. In it, there are loads of interactive resources: games, songs, videos, activities…  And different types of printable items( worksheets, games, flashcards…). Have a look at it!

3. To learn about the Space:

http://www.marcsobservatory.com

This is a very interesting topic for students, so they like to investigate about it. In here, they can learn about planets, stars, and other parts of the space. This one is less interactive. It is only to read and take some information about space, but the information is really useful and interesting. Not everything has to be interactive! Students should get used to read only for the pleasure of reading!

4. To learn about the weather:

This one is very interactive too! In it they will learn about the energy,   the weather, the environment… Also, you will find activities and games about that. It is really interesting and useful! I completely recommend it.

5. To learn to tell stories:

http://supereasystorytelling.com/creative-writing-prompts-for-kids.html

For some kids is difficult to learn to tell stories in English, so by this web page they will have a guide to learn how to do it. There are very funny characters which advice you about how you can make a story. There are different cards for the “What”, the “Who” and the “Why not” of a story, so they can find it easier. They start mixing the cards and making different andfunny stories until they can do it by themselves. Very funny for little kids!

6. To learn maths:

http://www.coolmath4kids.com

For some children maths are very difficult. On this web page they will find games to learn about different topics. In that way, they will learn easier and in a funnier way.

I hope you find all them useful for you teaching! Anyway, I will continue posting more tools.

A license for my blog!

Hello everybody!

As you can see on the lower side of the screen, now there is a little black square (as the one above), which means that this blog has now a licence. And what does this imply? Well, as you know this is a blog exclusively dedicated to Education based on CLIL approach. So, to keep this blog active, I need to take some information from different sources and authors: other blogs, several web pages, videos, etc.

At the same time, as well as they allow me to use their information, by having this license, I will allow them to use mine too. They will be able to work with all the CLIL materials I show and share, in a legal way.  That  is, they are allowed to work with the information I provide them with, share it, create upon it, and redistribute it, but always certifying that they got it from my job.

Of course, we can transfer this to the Education field by teaching our students to use licenses. The use of them is important because this teaches our students to be respectful with people’s work and effort. All the information you take from someone has a copyright. It is important for them to know that using other people’s material without permission is copying. The same as we shouldn’t allow them to do the same with our work.
Apart from that, is good for them to learn that using information from other sources without permision could mean troubles for us. So it is better  to ensure that everything we are doing is legal.

CLIL PLE and PLN Mindmap

Good afternoon classmates!
During our ICT class we had to do a mindmap about our CLIL PLE and PLN, so I wanted to share it with you. It consisted on making a summarize about what we have learnt about CLIL during our lives, since we started our Teacher Training degree.
To make it I used a tool called easel.ly. It was recommended to me by some classmates due to the fact that it is very easy to use, and it certainly was. Apart from that, I liked the different resources and features it has to make very original, colourful and attractive presentations, or if you prefer it, you can choose very formal features too, available to everybody without having to pay.
I didn't have too many problems to do it, but it is a slow process, because the circles and shapes have to fit in the space and be coordinated so they don't look messy. Also, if you want to move one circule, for example, from one place to the other, everything there is in it, has to be moved one by one too, so if you move one part of your mindmap, the rest of the features should be moved too individually and this delay your job.
Related to the content I chose different sources for my PLE learning:
1. Google, firefox, youtube and safari, in which I search terms, key words, videos, contents and web pages about CLIL to widen my knowlodege about clil.
2.Blogger and Twitter, where I usually find links or little quotes of information which take me to web pages or books about this topic.
3. Books, where I can read articles about CLIL.
4. Universities and schools,  where I've known classmates and teachers, from whom I have learnt a lot.

5. Power Point, Word, Easel.ly and Powtoon which are tools that I use to compile and organize all this information. These tools could be considered as part of my PLN too, since they are lately uploaded and shared with other people.
For my CLIL PLN I use some other tools such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Moodle, or Twitter, where I can get and share information too, by interacting (commenting, asking through chat, sharing...) or by reading and taking mental notes about what I see. Also, I can give opinion about the information I share or the one that I get from other people.
At the moment these are the online tools I use to share and get information for my PLE and PLN, but I hope to know much more and different tools for other purposes.
Here you have it!

See you on Twitter too!

Hello again! I forgot to tell you that you can find me on Twitter too:
I created it to get and share information about teaching and education. In that way me and my classmates can exchange information one to each other, and from other different sources.
Twitter is al very easy tool to use for learning and widen your knowledge, so I think it is essential to have an account nowadays. In it, users post short messages about anything they want. You can interact by commenting or retweeting, for example. You can follow different accounts, which are specialized in any field you are interested in.
For example, right now we are learning about CLIL, that related to education, and there I’ve shared some information about it. In this tweet you will find what this approach means to me:
Appart from it, I usually post about other aspects of my career, and I’ll continue updating my Twitter very frequently, so I hope to see you there too!

Hi everyone!

Well this is my new blog!
First of all, I want you to know a little about it: this is a blog I made for my Masters degree’s ICT class I am currently studying, so I thought it would be a good idea to share an introduction video we made in class about ourselves.
To do this presentation, I used PowToon, which is a very nice software to create animated videos about anything you want. For me it has become a very useful tool since I am a teacher, because it is really funny and attractive for kids and they really enjoy and learn with it!
It is very easy to use, but you should take into account that some of the resources are not free, so if you want to use them, you’ll have to pay.
However, the features available for free are very useful and you can do great presentations using them too!
So here you have my “3,2,1 introduction”. Hope you enjoy it!
